Tubing / Hoses
First what not to use!
Please keep in mind that we are not the
foremost experts on Hydrogen gas.
We are just sharing our experience
with you.
Thin walled tubing of any
kind is not advisable.
Tubing NOT USE!
There are lots of varieties of tubing available at your local hardware
stores.
Some are pretty low cost per foot. Keep in mind you get what you pay
for, so don't be cheap when buying your tubing.
Anything below 3/8"
anywhere on your system will cause a restriction of flow. So say no
to 1/4" for any part of your system.
Tubing that seem to
work
What we have used to date.
Use of larger tubing
1/2" 3/4" 1" works best for maximum flow.
Most of the information you will read on
this site will cover dry cell hydrogen production.
With this type of cell the larger the hoses going to and from the cell the
better off you will be.
Flowing water through your cell with help keep it cool as well as flush
the Hydrogen and Oxygen bubbles off your plates.
You can use any of the PVC type of tubing
from the hardware store as long as it is a thick wall or braded, and able
to stand up to caustics.
If you can squeeze the hose together with your fingers do not use it on
your system!
You need to keep in mind that your hose will get warm and it will get
softer and softer over time.
The braded hoses are the best to use.
