SAFETY FIRST
On this page will will cover
some things that we really think you need to keep in mind at all
times.
Since we are not the foremost experts on Hydrogen gas
we suggest that you read these contents and add a great deal more knowledge
about the gas and the forms of creating it before you attempt it on your
own.
Power Source:
The power supplies used to create Hydrogen gas can vary from a car
battery, a car battery with an external pulsed supply, to variacs used on
household current, and many other forms.
Use of these types of power supplies can burn you. blow your fingernails
off, or even kill you. It depends on your body and how your body
reacts to electricity.
For me the power supplies I get careless with just increases my four
letter word vocabulary when I touch the wrong thing. Although I know
that some of the power supplies I have experimented with would kill me in
a heart beat.
With the power supply systems we use to power our cells about the worse thing that has
happened to me is my increased vocabulary. However we are not in any
way saying that the outcome would be limited to that.
Like I said, it depends on how "your" body reacts.
So keep in mind you are
playing with high amperage which can burn or kill you, or high voltage and
amperage with could certainly kill you under the right conditions.
Some may argue that statement because we are experimenting with DC
voltage. But the higher the DC voltage and amperage the higher the
risk becomes, and if you have wet hands and touch across the plates on a
dry cell you may instantly increase your vocabulary, need to change your
pants, or worse.
Glass Jars, tubes, GLASS
ANYTHING:
DO NOT USE Glass anything!
There are so many cells being made and placed inside of glass
containers. This is not just a bad idea, it is dangerous and down
right stupid!
Hydrogen will blow a glass container apart like its a grenade. Keep
this in mind, if it might break if you drop it, it will explode into
pieces if you have a flashback. And you will have a flashback
sometime.
In short DO NOT use glass in
your system anywhere for any reason and yes that includes the bubbler as
well which is the first expansion chamber for a flashback.
Playing with Hydrogen
bubbles:
Most of us will do this even though it could have harmful results.
I really don't think there is a safe or safer way to do this but this is
what we have found on this subject.
When you are creating hydrogen
and you have your output hose sitting in water make sure it is down deep in
the water a few inches below the surface before you introduce a flame to the bubbles.
Make sure the container you are using is not glass. Soft plastic seems
to be fairly safe for bubble popping.
Make sure your container is FULL of water clear to the top. Sit a
towel under it to catch the splashing water.
Failure to make sure the hose is under water or the container is full may
result in a much bigger explosion than expected.
NEVER put soap in your bubble
popping container. It will build up foam filled with Hydrogen and it builds up
more than expected pretty fast. Pops, quickly go from loud pops like a
22 pistol to loud booms which could cause damage, hearing loss, blindness,
or you may need to change your pants..
The types of cells and power
supplies that TLG Hydrogen produces will make more hydrogen than anything
most people have ever seen. Please pay close attention to what
you are doing at all times!
